Red Hat Product Icon System

There was a need to visualize Red Hat’s products and offerings in highly visual environments online that were too small to use a logo, such as marketplaces, catalogs, and browser tabs.

The solution was to create a system of icons that not only represented our products and offerings, but that would also create top-level recognition and affinity for the larger Red Hat brand while being differentiable for users in navigation.

I worked cross-functionally with the Director of Brand Strategy, Product UX designers, and BU stakeholders and subject matter experts to research, complete a competitive analysis, and develop options for strategic directions to ultimately art direct the development of a distinct icon system to represent Red Hat’s highly technical products and offerings.
